SAUNA BUILDERS — QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND

Custom home & outdoor sauna builders in Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown is where a sauna earns its keep. Our builder is NZ trained, and we build custom traditional saunas and in-built Fjord ice baths for alpine homes, holiday properties and wellness spaces around the Wakatipu basin.

Not a kit reseller. Every sauna is designed for the space it sits in, framed and waterproofed properly, lined in low-toxin timber and finished by the same team that started it.

Building saunas in Queenstown

Alpine cold changes the build. Saunas here need more insulation, a well-sealed vapour barrier and a heater sized for cold starts, so the room reaches temperature quickly even in winter.

Outdoor saunas also need to handle snow loads and freeze–thaw cycles. Roof structure, drainage and any exposed water lines are planned for winter conditions from the start.

Council & approvals

Queenstown sauna projects fall under Queenstown Lakes District Council, depending on where your property is. Whether your sauna needs approval depends on the site and the size of the build, so we confirm exactly what applies at quote stage. Our QBCC licence covers Queensland work only.

SURROUNDS

Plenty of people can build a sauna. We're NZ-trained builders and sauna specialists who handle the whole process: design, structure, ventilation, electrical coordination, and finish.

Queenstown project planning

Our builder is NZ trained, having learned his trade on New Zealand builds. Design, site conditions, local approvals and trade requirements are confirmed for each Queenstown project, and our Queensland QBCC licence does not apply in New Zealand.

HUUM sauna heater installation

Traditional Finnish sauna builds around HUUM heaters, correctly sized and vented — plus wifi heater control upgrades so the room is hot when you walk in.

Low-toxin Modinex timber cladding

Zero-waste, untreated timber sauna construction. No treated timber behind the lining, no varnish inside the hot room, and sustainable cedar where the look calls for it.

Queenstown sauna questions

Can a sauna in Queenstown handle winter snow?

Yes, when it's designed for it. We plan the roof structure, insulation and drainage for snow and freezing conditions.

How long does a sauna take to heat up in alpine cold?

That depends on insulation and heater size. We size the heater and insulate the room for cold starts so it heats efficiently in winter.

What approvals apply to a Queenstown sauna project?

Requirements from Queenstown Lakes District Council depend on your site and the size of the sauna, and are confirmed at quote stage. Our QBCC licence covers Queensland work only.

Do you build ice baths in Queenstown too?

Yes. We install in-built Fjord ice baths alongside saunas for hot and cold routines.
